Jharkhand Cabinet Approves Girls’ Tech Institution Scholarship Program

On Monday, the proposal to offer scholarships to female students for technical education was accepted by the Jharkhand Cabinet. A female student pursuing diploma programs will receive a scholarship of Rs 15,000 per year under the “Manki Munda” program. In contrast, those pursuing engineering programs will receive an annual scholarship of Rs 30,000.

Chief Minister Champai Soren presided over the cabinet meeting where the decision was made. Given that there are six boys for every girl at state technical institutions, Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel stated that the scholarship program was created to encourage female students to pursue technical education.

The program will help about 3,000 female students pursuing diploma programs in its initial year. In a similar vein, 1,200 first-year engineering students will receive the perk, according to her. She stated that for the student to receive the advantage in the following academic year, they must pass the test with a cumulative score of 50% without using any past papers.

Additionally, the Champai Soren government has agreed to lend money to Jharkhand farmers without charging interest as long as they repay the loan within the allotted time. According to Dadel, the cabinet approved the proposal to increase the interest subvention from the current 3% to 4%. Farmers in the nation currently pay 7% interest on their loans. Farmers now only pay 1% interest on their loans because to a 3% interest subvention offered by the state and federal governments. State Agriculture Secretary Aboobacker Siddique told PTI, “Jharkhand has decided to increase the interest subvention to 4 percent, which means farmers will get interest-free loans in Jharkhand.”

The cabinet approved 25 agenda items, including the amended Rs 114.47 crore budget for constructing homes in Ranchi Smart City for 11 cabinet ministers. The project has already received administrative sanction for Rs 69.90 crore. Additionally, the proposal to hire non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to run the state’s 593 SC, ST, and OBC hostels was approved by the cabinet.

“The hostel’s cook, night watchman, and librarian will need to be arranged by the NGOs. Additionally, they will be responsible for the hostels’ upkeep, according to Dadel.
