Most educational institutions are utilizing technological tools such as artificial intelligence to educate students, thereby enhancing learning experiences.
Among the various changes that have occurred over the previous decade, technological improvements have been particularly beneficial. Artificial intelligence, IoT, and cloud storage have unleashed their power in practically every industry across the world. From education to government, every level of society is embracing technology and progressing.
In terms of education, most schools have implemented smart classrooms to help pupils learn from a young age. Some schools use what are known as smart technologies in the classroom, such as smart boards and projectors, to teach a variety of courses.

Following the pandemic in 2020, the whole education industry has undergone a radical remaking, with the globe increasingly moving toward digital learning.
Even the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) states that it “commits to supporting member states in harnessing the potential of AI technologies for achieving the Education 2030 Agenda while ensuring that their application in educational contexts is guided by the core principles of inclusion and equity.” The international organizations believe in a human-centered approach to artificial intelligence, aiming to “address current inequalities regarding access to knowledge, research, and the diversity of cultural expressions, and ensure AI does not widen the technological divides within and between countries.”
UNESCO has also created a paper titled “Artificial Intelligence and Education: Guidance for Policy-makers” for practitioners and professionals in the policy-making and education communities, which explores the potential and problems that AI presents in education, among other things.
Not only that, but the Digital India program is another significant move made by the Indian government to revolutionize e-learning in a way that goes beyond classrooms, making learning a more egalitarian experience. The GoI has launched many projects to promote digital literacy, including E-Pathshala, SWAYAM Prabha, and PM eVidya.
To better understand how important and useful technology tools are in schools and other educational institutions today, the Hindustan Times met with both instructors and developers who work on learning platforms for students. The following is what they said.
1. Enhanced student engagement
Classroom learning has unquestionably improved over the last two decades. Students can better comprehend a topic by using resources such as smart boards and education-themed mobile apps. Many schools across India use such technologies to educate pupils in ways that improve their knowledge and abilities, considerably adding to their overall performance. For example, Piya Sarma, a teacher at the Royal Global School in Guwahati, considers technology-based learning to be a benefit. “It’s astonishing how technology has become an essential component of modern schooling. Students may now obtain instruction at the push of a mouse. Among other things, the use of smart boards not only makes lessons more engaging, but also helps students connect with the content and stay interested throughout the sessions.”
2. Promoting teacher-student connections
One of the most significant things in education is the holy link that exists between instructors and pupils. Only teachers, after parents, can teach youngsters essential lessons and help them become responsible adults in the future.Fahd Hazarika, Head of Business Development at online institute management software aulas, stated, “While much has to be looked at differently when harnessing technology in education, a lot will remain the same. For example, the “teacher-student relationship” is just as vital now as it was decades before, and it will continue to be. Teachers that regarded me as a person and cared about me motivated me to work more both in and out of class. Thus, the use of technology would only make sense if it did not undermine this tie and instead promoted greater face-to-face contacts.
3. The more secure, the better it is
According to Hazarika, any technology instrument used in the educational sector must be integrable, flexible, scalable, and, most importantly, secure. He said:
“The unexpected collapse of physical infrastructure globally after 2020 had pushed educational institutions to embrace novel technologies and realign operations on the fly, with little or no time to examine risks and truly incorporate all stakeholders. You can’t simply make an app on your phone and announce you’re going to sell it to a teacher, student, or institute owner. Such apps must fulfill requirements such as security and flexibility in order to completely serve their intended audience.”
4. Ensuring the mental well-being of students
One key issue addressed by technology tools is that they assure students’ mental well-being both in the classroom and at home. With the introduction of mobile learning apps, studying complicated chapters has become not only simple, but also exciting. Today, there are course-specific learning tools for disciplines such as physics, mathematics, and even social science that assist students in significantly expanding their knowledge base on somewhat complicated chapters. Dr. Mayuri Pathak, a former assistant professor at USTM, stated, “Mental well-being is an essential component for any student and should be prioritized. We have previously observed that most pupils suffered psychologically when they failed to grasp chapters.
5. Making students ready for the digital future
Finally, the use of technology in schools is playing an important part in shaping young brains to be prepared for the digital age. Students who are exposed to the most recent technology tools are not only learning about the fundamentals of society, but also developing the skills necessary to function in a world where digital is the norm. According to Namita Goswami, a senior teacher at a Government Higher Secondary School, “Introduction of technical tools especially helps students gives them the first-hand experience of the digital future, which of course, is an extremely crucial component of modern-day education.”
