Wipro Limited has revealed a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), introducing a higher education program in artificial intelligence (AI) for eligible employees.
The online Master’s in Technology (MTech) course will emphasize key areas such as AI, Foundations of machine learning/AI, Data Science, and Business Analytics, addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in these domains, said Wipro.
Wipro’s investment in expanding its AI capabilities through skill-building underscores its commitment to cultivating a future-ready workforce. This initiative is a pivotal step towards up-skilling by engaging with premier universities and enhancing top talent through formal degree programs, according to a company statement.
Sanjeev Jain, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Business Operations at Wipro Limited expressed confidence in the rapid evolution of GenAI and believes that selected employees will greatly benefit from the knowledge gained at IISc, enabling them to develop capabilities for future opportunities and deliver impactful business outcomes.
Through this collaboration, a chosen group of Wipro employees will have access to resources at IISc, including faculty members, online lectures, libraries, and alumni networks. Additionally, they will receive mentorship from experienced professionals in Wipro’s Data, Analytics, and AI practice.
Prof. Rajesh Sundaresan, Dean of the Division of EECS at IISc, expressed satisfaction in supporting Wipro’s initiative to provide higher education opportunities, particularly in emerging fields like data science, GenAI, and next-generation communications, through the successful MTech (Online) program offered by IISc. He highlighted that the curriculum for working professionals maintains the same rigorous standards as IISc’s full-time programs, with faculty members delivering content online to educate students on foundational concepts and practical applications.
