NIT Jamshedpur is launching part-time M.Tech courses, marking a significant expansion in its educational offerings. The institute plans to start five new courses across different departments following Senate approval.
The part-time courses, pending final approval from the Board of Governors, represent a groundbreaking initiative for NIT Jamshedpur. During the Senate meeting, the details of the new courses were specified by the department.
The Civil Engineering department will offer a three-year part-time course in Structural Engineering, starting with an initial intake of 20 students. The Computer Science and Engineering department will provide two part-time courses: Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Science and Security Engineering, each with 20 students in the first batch.
Additionally, the Electronics and Communication Engineering department will launch a course in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, while the Metallurgical and Material Engineering department will introduce a course in Iron and Steel Technology. The Production and Industrial Engineering department will also offer a course in Production Management, enrolling 20 students in its first batch.
These part-time courses will span three years, with a start date set for 2025 as per the Senate’s deadline.
