The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India is implementing ICT Labs and Smart Classrooms in all functional Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and Hostels under Samagra Shiksha norms.
This initiative aims to empower 7 lakh girls, make them digitally savvy, and enhance their learning outcomes, bridging the digital divide at an estimated cost of Rs. 290 crore. KGBVs are residential schools for disadvantaged Backgrounds girls (SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and BPL) from Classes VI to XII, ensuring access and quality education to reduce gender gaps. Currently, 5116 KGBVs operate across 30 States/UTs.
The integration of ICT will provide these girls with access to digital resources like SWAYAM, SWAYAM PRABHA, and e-Pathshala, crucial for their personal and professional growth.
