Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Prime Minister’s College of Excellence’ for all 55 districts in Madhya Pradesh, lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foresight in implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) aimed at propelling India to developed status by 2047.
Speaking at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College in Indore, which was designated as a PM College of Excellence, Shah praised Madhya Pradesh for its proactive adoption of the NEP, highlighting its role in shaping India’s educational landscape for the next quarter-century.
He underscored the NEP’s potential to empower Indian students globally while preserving national culture, emphasizing its quality-centric approach and promotion of holistic student development. Shah also commended Madhya Pradesh for pioneering Hindi-based medical and engineering courses to enhance educational accessibility.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar addressed the event, underscoring the significance of these colleges in offering NEP-aligned, employment-oriented education.
These institutions, set up at an estimated cost of Rs 486 crore, aim to foster a skilled workforce poised to meet India’s developmental aspirations. Shah additionally recognized Indore’s evolution into an educational hub alongside its achievements in the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors, reaffirming its status as the state’s financial hub and the cleanest city in India.
